Two systems

Systems we have built.

One delivered client system, and one product of our own still in development. Both are described here in terms of the work they change rather than the technology they use.

Client system, in production

Billing and ledger platform for a wholesale trader

  • Staff can raise a bill on a phone.
  • The customer's running balance updates instantly.
  • Invoices can be sent over WhatsApp.
  • Owners, admins and staff use role-based access.
  • Repeated failed logins can trigger account lockout.
  • Edits are captured in a full audit trail.
  • Deployments are automated end to end.

BuildOps, a platform engineering workspace

Most delivery teams run change approvals through chat threads and spreadsheets, then provision infrastructure by hand. BuildOps puts that whole path in one place, so a request carries its own approval record and the provisioning happens as a result of the approval rather than alongside it.

What it does

  • A request moves through a fixed chain: developer, team lead, PMO, DevOps, information security, admin.
  • Repository provisioning runs automatically once security has signed off, not before.
  • Environments promote from development through QA and staging to production, with canary rollout and rollback.
  • Each organisation is isolated, with its own users, routing and approval chain.
  • Cloud access uses short-lived federated credentials rather than stored keys.

Why we are building it

It comes out of the same problem this practice was founded on: delivery that depends on a specific person being available. Everything we have learned running platforms for other teams goes into it.

BuildOps is not generally available yet

It is in active development. If the approval and provisioning problem sounds familiar, we are happy to walk through it and hear how your team handles it today.
